Do you feel like you’ve been stuck in a rut lately? It can be so easy to start living the same day over and over again, repeating old habits and staying stagnant. However, there is an effective way to fix this: spring cleaning for the mind, body, and soul.
The Power of Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning for the mind and soul is an opportunity for you to re-center and focus on priorities. If you feel like you’ve lost sight of who you are and what you want in life, then it may be time to adopt some practices that will ignite your inner fire and bring you back to yourself.
By doing some mental health spring cleaning, you can acknowledge growth areas in your life, as well as any habits you have that are holding you back from your full potential. It’s never too late to commit to growth and develop healthier practices.
There are so many different ways that you can refresh your mind and soul. Here are some of our favorite practices…
Slow Down
It can be difficult to listen to yourself with all the noise of the world. So many of us go throughout our days and then fall into bed without taking time for ourselves or our thoughts. Slowing down can be one of the most powerful things we can do.
Productivity isn’t a bad thing, but there needs to be the right balance of checking things off your to-do list and taking time to just… Be.
If slowing down is something that’s hard for you, there are lots of support options available. Some people like going for a walk while listening to gentle music and unwinding. For others, meditation is the way in which they connect with themselves.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed at the thought of beginning to meditate, we recommend the SOS Method app. The app has a variety of Special Formula Meditations that help you connect with your inner power and overcome past trauma, so that you can achieve your fullest potential – in as little as 5 minutes.
Journal Your Highly Focused Intention
Journaling may seem like a simple task, but it can be the key to unlocking your deepest thoughts and desires. Keeping a journal can also be a great way to reflect in the future, as you can see how far you’ve come and the progress you’ve made.
Intentions begin as thoughts and words that communicate to our mind and body. What we think subconsciously has an influence on the intention we set. It’s important to look at how we feel about our Intentions; if we have doubts, feel depressed or fearful, this broadcasts to our brain and body. It’s like shouting NO even if our head is nodding yes.
Aligning our emotional content (conscious and unconscious) is helpful to the process and influences the outcome. It’s not something you can fake. Which is why meditations with subtle energies increase the potency of your intentions, as it diminishes limiting beliefs and increases optimism.
If you’re ready to start journaling, consider: What intentions would cause me to feel excited about the future. Choose 1–5 that could happen within the next month. Write: “My intention is to (fill in the blank)…”
Listen to an SOS Special Formula Meditation to fuel your inspiration and creativity. Then write any insights that arise including the actions you will take to bring your intentions to reality.
Give Yourself Freedom
It can be easy to blame situations, work, and social habits for why you’re not growing personally, but often it’s ourselves that are holding us back. It’s easy to get stuck in unhealthy cycles, but giving yourself freedom to grow and change is often the first step towards a better life.
Our brains like familiarity and repetition, which is one of the reasons why it’s so easy to fall into unhealthy patterns. So many times people don’t believe that they’re capable or deserving of change and that’s what holds them back – not their circumstances or actual abilities.
Giving yourself freedom can be exhilarating, overwhelming, and liberating. By freeing yourself from negative thought patterns, unhealthy relationships, and genetic trauma, you can chase the life that you’ve been wanting.
Assess Stress
In today’s world, stress is one of the most harmful things we can encounter. Stress can impact every area of the body, so it’s important to make sure that you’re assessing your stress levels.
Stress is unavoidable, but it’s essential to understand what stress you can accept and what stress you need to reduce.
By being honest and reflecting on your stress levels, you can create a plan to release current stress, minimize new stress, and better care of both your body and mind.
If you would like support with this we recommend the “Less Stress, More Happiness” and “Mental Resilience” programs in the SOS Method app. You can do them both in 7 days. Imagine having a whole new way to combat stress in 1 week!
Focusing on Priorities
Spring cleaning for your mind and soul is really about priorities. Setting priorities helps you stop racing through life so you can focus on what you value, and become less overwhelmed or scattered, so you can live an inspired life.
Set aside a specific time to clarify your priorities. You can do this monthly, weekly, and daily. We suggest trying first thing in the morning while you have a cup of coffee or at your desk before you start responding to emails.
This could also be a great time to do one of the Special Formula Meditations from the SOS Method app, just to ensure your mind is free of worries and ready to focus.
What activities, people, and goals you prioritize can significantly impact your life, so consider what direction you’d like to head in.
Be sure to write them down in your journal so that you can feel the accomplishment and dopamine boost of physically checking them off the list.
You have the power to accomplish your goals and create the life you’d like – you just have to take the first step.
